What exactly is a tester?
Brands produce testers for perfume counters — the bottles you spray in a store. They contain the identical fragrance as the retail version: same concentration, same batch quality, same bottle. What's different is only the packaging: testers come in a plain (often brown or white) box, sometimes marked "Tester — Not For Sale", and occasionally without the fancy cap.
Why are they cheaper?
You're not paying for the retail presentation — the embossed box, the cellophane, the shelf appeal. Since the packaging can be 10–30% of what you pay for a luxury fragrance, removing it drops the price without touching the scent. That's the whole trick. Nothing is diluted, expired or fake.
